Definition: a hormone is a molecule that is secreted directly into the bloodstream of an organism through a ductless gland. The molecule acts as a chemical messenger, carrying information from one cell or group of cells to another area.

Examples: epinephrine, melatonin, serotonin, insulin, testosterone
